History KS3 - The Consequences of Violent Extremism.

Miriam Hyman was killed in the “7/7” London bombings on 7th July, 2005. In her memory, The Miriam Hyman Memorial Trust collaborated with teachers to create Miriam’s Vision, units of work for use across the Key Stage 3 curriculum. The unique, high quality lesson plans, written by teachers for teachers, contain an editable powerpoint, worksheets (PDF), video links and guidance notes.

The aim is to promote social cohesion in response to the circumstances of Miriam’s death.

The History unit, ‘The Consequences of Violent Extremism,’ relates directly to the events of 7/7 and their consequences. Resilience, emotional intelligence, and rational action in the light of rights and responsibilities are encouraged.

• Session 2 - Personal consequences (1). Who was affected by 7/7?
• Session 3 – Personal consequences (2). Can negative events have positive consequences?
• Sessions 4 – What were the wider, less personal consequences of 7/7
• Session 5 – Analysing the consequences of 7/7.
• Session 6 – What happened after the London bombings?
