This lesson guides pupils through Hitler’s early life as a child and as a homeless young man and failed artist. It also covers his art and his time as a soldier in World War 1. This lesson includes comments from Hitler’s teachers and peers as well as extracts from his own letters and self portrait. It can work well as a stand alone lesson or as an introduction to Nazi Germany. The lesson allows pupils to build up a picture of Young Hitler via information on power point slides. However it could also be used as a scavenger hunt, market place or pair work. It also has a writing frame for LA pupils who can create an overview of Hitler in World War 1.
