This assembly framework is part of a series of School Radio assemblies, which can be found on the BBC Teach website.
This assembly is especially appropriate for Martin Luther King Day (third Sunday of January to coincide with his birthday, 15/01/1929) and Black History Month.
Dr King’s ‘I have a dream’ speech was delivered on 28 August 1963 at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC to a crowd of about 250,000.
It was the culmination of the ‘March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom’ and is a key moment in the Civil Rights movement.
