A lesson designed to help students at KS3 prepare students in writing analytical responses. The approach used is SPEED (Signpost, Point, Evidence, Explain, Link), and the resource includes:
- A step-by-step approach to analyse a text (a ‘Private Peaceful’ extract used as an example),
- Guidance on how to structure ideas clearly and analytically
- A modelled example to analyse and self-assess
- A peer assessment activity of their own work (all resources included in the PowerPoint itself).
Can be adapted easily for different texts - see my shop for one I’ve created using Shakespeare’s ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ with Year 8.
