This comprehensive scheme has been created to teach a Y9 HA set writing and reading skills in relation to the increasingly difficult assessment criteria and in particular, to prepare students for the AQA KS3 test packs.
This is a 6 week scheme comprising of 18 lessons. Each week has a homework task related to the week's topic. Week 1 focuses on familiarising students with the Gothic genre, week 2 focuses on Gothic settings, week 3 on character, week 4 on writing skills, week 5 on 'the short story' and week 6 on writing a Gothic opening.
Differentiation is evident within the PPs and each week often has a differentiated worksheet or suggestion within it.
The written SoW is included within this and details marking suggestions for pieces of work. Objectives and outcomes are WALTs/WILFs/success criteria as stipulated by my school and may just need tinkering to suit your school.
The anthology included is in chronological order of teaching. It is designed to help students develop their understanding of Gothic literature (including Frankenstein, Wuthering Heights, Castle of Otranto, Woman in Black and the Tell-Tale Heart) and enables them to keep their notes in one place and take pride in their work.
