As they read the letters the students will both gain knowledge on the changes and impacts these individuals had upon 18th and 19th century medicine. But, they will also engage in the debate as to who has had the biggest impact, what constitutes an impact, what makes a medical individual the most important.
All good skills of analysis and debate that can help with those tricky 16 mark questions!
