Level 1 Maths Functional Skills - Measures, Shape and Space Bundle

These resources have been designed for students working towards Functional Skills Maths qualifications at Level 1 (Edexcel-Pearson, NCFE, City and Guilds, AQA, Highfield Qualifications, NOCN, Open Awards). It is an ideal resource for Entry Level 3 students progressing to Level 1.

The bundle contains ten workbooks and ten PowerPoint lessons on the -‘using common measures, shape and space’ component of the Level 1 Maths Functional Skills Specification.

These resources will help pupils to achieve these outcomes:

calculate simple interest and discounts in multiples of 5% on amounts of money
convert between units of length, weight, capacity, money and time, in the same system
recognise and make use of simple scales on maps and drawings
calculate the area and perimeter of simple shapes including those that are made up of a combination of rectangles
calculate the volumes of cubes and cuboids
draw 2-D shapes and demonstrate an understanding of line symmetry and knowledge of the relative size of angles
interpret plans, elevations and nets of simple 3-D shapes
use angles when describing position and direction, and measure angles in degrees

Workbooks

All the workbooks contain explanation pages, worksheets, progress checks and certificates of achievement. They are provided in both PDF format and editable PowerPoint versions to enable editing and personalisation of the resources.They can be used for classwork, homework, revision or as an independent learning pack.

PowerPoint Lessons

The bundle contains ten PowerPoint lessons on the ‘'using common measures, shape and space" components of the Level 1 Maths Functional Skills Specification.

The PowerPoints clearly explain the knowledge and skills required for each component. They contains numerous examples and provide many opportunities for students to practise the skills needed to pass the Level 1 exam.
