Literacy planning KS2 The Iron Man

A unit of work based on The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. 18 lessons with a range of incidental writing opportunities for Years 3, 4 or 5 children. Lessons include prediction, questioning, character descriptions, drama - role play, play scripts, newspaper articles, recount and diary entry, summarising chapters, work on similes and adverbs, planning and writing a fantasy story, direct speech and reported speech, character profile and a book review. In addition to this, there is a lesson where children analyse language used by the author and the effect of this.
