Minecraft is a wonderful visual resource that can be used to teach an incredible variety of concepts in a wide range of subjects. It is particularly effective for helping pupils diagnosed with ASD. Here I have used it in four tasks taking pupils through different aspects of perimeter, area, volume and surface area that allows them to test multiple permutations of regular 2d and 3d shapes.

A decent powerpoint, but the maths involved is way below that of 14-16 year olds; this would suit maybe 8-10 year olds at best. Also there is no explanation of HOW the children should use Minecraft, making it a somewhat tenuous link.

Having a newly home educated daughter with ASD, I found this Maths resourse a welcome change from the normal maths worksheet. My daughter completed it within minutes so its a massive thumbs up from us!
