This resource is a PowerPoint presentation and worksheets that covers the Communities (4.7.1.1), Abiotic factors (4.7.1.2), and Biotic factors (4.7.1.3), information on the 2016 AQA Ecology specification.

Since there are lots of activities, I spent two lessons going through this PowerPoint with my class, however, you could just miss some out to condense it all into one lesson if you choose.

The basic structure of the lesson is as follows:

1) Starter- Pose, Pause Pounce, Bounce key question to get the students thinking.
2) Information and pictures about habitats, populations and communities.
3) A key word glossary making activity.
4) Mind map activities for Biotic and Abiotic factors.
5) Describe and draw conclusions from the table activity.
6) Describe and draw conclusions from the graph activity.
7) Predator prey video.
8) Describe and draw conclusions from the predator-prey graph activity.
9) Which resources animals and plants compete for activity.
10) Interdependence information and pictures.
11) Quiz, Quiz Trade- question/answer game.
12) A slide with the relevant page numbers and questions from the AQA Text Book.
13) Plenary- Guess the resource from the pictures.
14) Plenary Triangle Activity.

Also included are various resources that can be used to enhance to lesson:

1) Mind map with questions worksheet.
2) Graphs and tables, plus questions- These can be printed out and placed around the room.
3) Plenary triangle worksheet.

Thank you for looking and I hope you enjoy these resources.

Not worth £3. Opening bio indicates there will be more on biotic and abiotic factors. This is just a general over view of ecology. Which is good. But not what the introduction seems to indicate!

Since there were so many varied activities included, I was able to use the PowerPoint and worksheets over two lessons. My students really enjoyed the lessons, especially the quiz question game.
