MY VOCABULARY STORY:

In the 60’s, materialism had caused a disinclination
for war. There was dissent and rich kids were exempt. At the
same time there mercenaries willing to fight for anyone for pay.

SIMPLE VERSION:

In the 60’s, physical comfort culture had caused a unwillingness
to go to war. There were protests and rich kids were excused. At the
same time there soldiers of fortune willing to fight for anyone for pay.

PARAPHRASE:

By the 60’s American were to soft for war. Rich kids were excused
and there were protests. Some cashed in by fighting for cash.
