Non-Fiction Writing - Complete SOL

This 4 week fully resourced SOL including all lessons in PowerPoint form, an accompanying Medium-Term Plan document, all resources and assessments will develop students non-fiction writing abilities and introduce them to new strategies for success in the transactional writing section of the English Language GCSE.

Built around a model collections of five non-fiction formats including articles, leaflets, letters, speeches and reviews which are dissected throughout the unit to highlight the skills and strategies taught, including:

• Effective Planning
• Writing to persuade, inform, argue, entertain and explain
• Using sentence variety for effect in NF writing
• Using punctuation for variety in NF writing
• Common SPAG errors assault course
• Active and passive voice
• Opportunity ‘create a campaign’ by writing a range of text types

• Effective article closing
