This is a game you can play with KS4 and very able KS3 students to really challenge their pattern spotting skills.

Students are given 2 terms in a sequence. They need to guess the Nth term. The next term in the sequence will then be revealed. This may agree or disagree with the Nth term they have written, they have then have the opportunity to make a new guess.

Students get 5 points for guessing the Nth term from the first 2 terms. Students get 4 points if they get it after the next term is revealed, 3 points after the 4th term is revealed and so on, until 2 poinst are awarded if they get it after all terms are revealed.

I have used this resource in Top set classes, students working in pairs. It can create lots of discussion and it a real test!

A nice idea to test students on what they have learnt on Nth term sequences. Thanks for sharing the idea
