This is an activity bundle based on the book “Our Dreaming” by Kirli Saunders and Dub Leffler. This book was shortlisted for the 2023 Picture Book of the Year.
This story is written by Gundungurra woman Kirli Saunders. It explains the Dreaming and the importance of Dreaming, as an elder would tell someone from the younger generation.
This book is a great text to teach children about Indigenous tradition and customs.
This set of resources has a range of tasks. Some are suitable for younger grades, some older.
The activity bundle includes:
-
a set of ten printable Literature Circle task cards. These contain a range of tasks based on this book. Tasks are designed to contain a high degree of student choice and are high-engagement, meaning that students can work independently during group time.
-
a comprehension guide, designed to be printed and competed independently. Comprehension questions are aimed at a range of levels, and are designed to target a range of comprehension skills. Answers are also included.
-
associated printables based on the text. These include a research task, a creative arts activity, a cause and effect task, and more. These are easily integrated into Literature Circle rotations. There are a range of tasks for younger and older students, as well as “all ages” tasks.
These are part of a series I created based on the CBCA shortlisted books. There will be resources for the Early Childhood, Picture Book of the Year and Younger Readers categories. I introduce all the picture books to students of all ages, so these resources are open-ended enough to be used with any age group. Bundle and save!
I have many other literature-based resources in my store (most of them based on Australian texts) so feel free to check them out.
Happy reading!
