I made this resource for a top set first year class but it is suitable for any year. I was struggling to keep them on task with textbook work so I decided to make this activity.
This works best in a relay fashion in groups of 4 and focuses on percentages as well as rounding.
I printed out the powerpoint and gave the groups one 'aisle' at a time.
Each isle has 8 items for the students to work out the percentage increase or decrease. They can use any method they want, i.e use a multiplier or type it into the calculator.
It could also be adapted for non-calculator.
Once an aisle is completed and all students have the work in their jotters they move onto a new aisle and harder questions. The team who fixes the supermarket and answers all the questions wins.
Any improvements you think could be made please let me know. Also let me know how your class got on with it :)
