Phonics Digraph Resources and Activities

This is a digital download which includes:

• letter cards
• cards with initial sound pictures
• matching initial sound activity
• decodable word cards using current and past sounds
• diacritically marked word cards

You will receive an editable Word document and a pdf.

Suggested activities:

• Introduce the focus sound through paired/whole class discussion of what they can identify in the pictures. Where can they spot the focus sound (beginning/middle/end)? Can they think of anymore?
• Use the flashcards to recap previous and new sounds
• Match the flashcards with the pictures. Write the word from the picture on a whiteboard/ jotter.
• Play snap with the pictures or word cards. Say snap when two consecutive cards include the same sound.
• Ask your partner to diacritically mark a word. Check using the diacritically marked word cards.
• Hide the diacritical marking. Say, write and diacritically mark the word. Check if you got it right.
