Physics Equations Leaderboard

Some rules are provided to share with your pupils (and perhaps to display beside your printed off leaderboards). A ‘Physics Equations Leaderboard Template’ has also been provided.

Rules:

1. Students will receive a sticker each time they complete the ‘Physics Equations Quiz’ according to the key below.

   0% - 20%: Red
   20% - 40%: Orange
   40% - 60%: Yellow
   60% - 80%: Green
   80% - 100%: Blue

2. Students will receive a star by their each time they manage to remember at least three more physics equations (or maintain their score in the ‘blue’ category).

3. Students who receive three stars in a row will get a prize!

More Information:
The ‘Physics Equations Leaderboard Tracker’ uses the rules outlined to assign a colour to each mark. This colour can then be replicated on your printed off display to avoid having to display marks which may be embarrassing for some students. The tracker will also highlight any mark which has increase by three or more in pink to ease the awarding of prizes.

The ‘Physics Equations Quiz’ sheet lists quantities in either plain text, bold, underlined or italics. This has been done to facilitate extension for more able students (or students who have finished quicker than others).

Some ideas include:
• Rearrange five of the equations on the list to make the quantity underlined the subject of the formula.
• List the S.I. units for all of the quantities listed in bold.
• Pair up as many of the quantities in plain text as possible, explaining how they are linked to one another (e.g. charge and resistance – resistance reduced the rate of flow of charge through a wire).
