Children complete Place value worksheet in pairs. Partner A (higher ability) tells Partner B (Lower ability) how they are answering question one and then Partner B answers their question after watching partner A. Partner A and B should be encouaged to support, help and each other.
Research has shown that this is a productive form of scaffolding and benefits both children. I include a short PPT which explains the steps of the method for children along with a worksheet.
