A set of game sheets using Pokemon for children to practice their phonics skills using phase 2, 3 and 4 words.
Children roll a die and move however many spaces it says. They have to sound out and blend the word, and if they get it correct they can stay on that space, but if they get it wrong they move back to where they were. The first to 'capture' all three evolutions of their Pokemon is the winner!

One player has to know how to pronounce things correctly in order to play, This is only really practical to play with the teacher, an aide or an older student.
What a great idea! I loved that there were so many different versions. These will definitely get some of my reluctant readers more interested in phonics! I'd love to see versions for KS2 using common exception words!
