Presents from my Aunts in Pakistan - Moniza Alvi

A series of four fully resourced lessons on the poem Presents from my Aunts in Pakistan by Moniza Alvi.
The first lesson allows students to experience the poem as a dictogloss poem in order for them to develop a personal and creative response.
The second lesson develops the students understanding of the poem and Alvi’s influences.
The third lesson allows students to analyse the language and structure of the poem in detail and offers opportunity for oracy skills to be practised.
The fourth lesson is an extended writing lesson and allows time for the students to plan their responses beforehand - could be extended to a fifth lesson.
