A simple step by step 33-page workbook to writing pseudocode, following the AQA standard given in their teaching guide. The booklet defines the programming techniques before showing how to write them out on paper.

• Variables & Naming Conventions
• Constants
• Comments
• Keywords
• Arithmetic Operators
• Relational Operators
• Selection
• Logical Operators
• Iteration
• Arrays
• 2D Arrays
• Subroutines
• String Handling
• Random Number Generation
• Read & Write Files

The workbook works through the first stages of writing pseudocode - all the way to activities at the end designed to get students writing out full algorithms they might find in their GCSE paper at the end of Year 11.

As well as individual activities after each programming technique, there are also additional longer activities spaced through the booklet.

The booklet can be printed either as an A4 booklet or even as an A5 booklet – and although the subroutines section contains some colour, it can be printed in black & white to save costs!

It’s perfect for working through alongside their NEA or programming topic! I use it to support a whole term’s worth of lessons in Year 10!
