Pupils are given a map of Europe. They must plan a trip trying to visit as many cities beginning with different letters as possible and record all distances travelled. This can be then used to work out speed, costs of the trip using fuel costs per km or per mile and include conversions too.
For added difficulty, pupils could use an atlas where there are different scales to deal with and apply their understanding to.
