Reductionism in the context of Psychology

A full-mark essay from an eventual A-star student in Psychology.

This full-length essay debates the appropriacy of a reductionist approach to psychology (as opposed to a holistic one) via the discussion of the opening statement: “The best way to understand and explain behaviour is to reduce it to the simplest component parts”. Throughout, it references areas of psychology that students may have studied, and uses them to back up points and to put the debate into context.

At 4 pages long, it is concise, well-explained, and critical, and would be a useful resource for study both inside and outside of the classroom.
