This unit is part 4 of a series with a focus on the mountainous area of northern Sichuan Province. It brings into focus the event that in 2008 caused considerable damage and loss of life. That was the May 12 Sichuan Earthquake. The details of cause and consequence are dealt with in greater detail in a PowerPoint entitled The Sichuan Earthquake of 2008. That unit will start at the park at the mountain pass between two valleys. This unit starts by moving to that same pass and observing what has been done to recover. It then takes you down to the world famous karst (limestone) terraces of the Huanglong Valley. The attachments in black and white and in colour are provided in PDF format so that hard copies can be provided. Enjoy the experience but watch out - legend has it that there had been a yellow dragon in the area.

I really enjoyed the information and resources in this series of powerpoints. I thought the stories were engaging and I intend to use them to create a sense of place at the start of a study of the Sichuan Earthquake. Thanks for sharing!
