This resource contains 12 different activities to teach how to identify whether a word needs a ‘c’ or a ‘k’ at the beginning of it. It is suitable for whole class use, small SEN groups and home schooling by a parent or tutor. The learning begins with a word sort and pupils are encouraged to find patterns and rules themselves. There is then fun practice of identifying by ear whether ‘c’ or ‘k’ is needed. The next stage is for the pupil to write whole words and again there is varied and fun practice of this. Next pupils will write words in the context of dictated sentences. Finally they will write their own sentences or short story by using words in this unit that have been shown as pictures.
