Nouns ending in the suffix ant are agent nouns, usually created by adding ant to a verb. They refer to a person or thing performing or causing the stated action. Students are encouraged to work back from the word with the suffix to work out what the root word would be and what the meaning of the word would be. Designed to accompany Jolly Grammar 4 lesson 28 but suitable for other spelling programs.
