Suitcase Stories is a lively drama and enquiry-led approach to climate education for 7-18-year-olds, developed by York St John University researchers in school and youth work settings in West Yorkshire.

It starts from the questions, ‘Who is already suffering the impacts of climate change?’ and ‘What can we learn from them?’ Young people research and connect with the true stories of those on the climate frontlines (e.g. in developing countries), and create short performances that pack into suitcases.

Investigating the innovations and resilience of communities affected by climate change focuses young people’s minds on climate justice and practical solutions, rather than contributing to their climate anxiety. Learning storytelling skills empowers them as performers and advocates in their own communities.
