An activity where students have to find the surface area of a 3D paper ball before making one.
Foundation tier students measure the necessary lengths for themselves, whereas Higher tier students are provided with a single length and have to use geometry and trigonometry to find the total area. (You can decide whether or not to remind students of the relevant area formulae.)
