Teachers' Complete GCSE Poetry Bundle, Power & Conflict (ALL 15 POEMS), NEW AQA ENGLISH LITERATURE!

Thank you for your review, we appreciate all feedback and use this to improve the resources we design and make available for other teachers. However, your review does seem to be at odds with those of other reviewers who have been over the whole resource and taught the course in its entirety. I would encourage you to do the same before condemning it. Where other teachers have done this they have had very positive things to say as can be seen below. Also this resource has been developed by a team of experienced teachers and put under the scrutiny of several teachers who have no affiliation with CreatEd to ensure it is of a high quality. <br /> <br /> This resource is not intended to be the be all and end all for the poetry module. It is a good starting point (as described by another reviewer) and allows pupils to access each of the 15 poems in unique and alternative ways which avoid traditional exam drilling approaches (this approach will come later in a resource bundle that is currently under development.) I am sorry that we have not included every possible interpretation for every line of every poem, however, we believe that interpretations should come from pupils also and given that each PowerPoint is intended to be taught over several lessons we believe that this resource provides opportunities to allow this to happen. Also, we do not agree that there is only one possible interpretation, there are many, this is the beauty of English. <br /> <br /> I am sorry you disagree with some of our interpretations. It is stated - 'context: Shelley's message, in a time when the British Monarch wielded great power is clear' however, there is no mention of Elizabeth I (we are fully aware that this Monarch was no longer on the throne during Shelley’s lifetime.) Whether or not ‘Colossal Wreck’ is an oxymoron is or not is open to discussion, although we appreciate your view that it is not, I would encourage you to allow your pupils to decide for themselves (for example, ‘colossal’ is describing the sheer magnitude of the former empire, and ‘wreck’ the fact that it is no longer so, therefore, in our opinion, making this an oxymoron.) This resource encourages pupils to interpret the poems in their own way and models the analysis process as well as building understanding of and confidence with each Assessment Objective (all of which can be verified by reading the comments of other reviewers.) <br /> <br /> Also, you describe the slides as ‘busy,’ yet complain that we have not included every interpretation. If you view these PowerPoints in slide show mode (which us how they would be delivered in class,) you will see that they have been animated to deliver the material in digestible portions which are intended to guide and model. It is quite clear that you have not done this, for this reason we would say the slides are well structured as opposed to busy. <br /> <br /> I do not expect grade 8 - 9 responses from my classes upon the first reading of a poem. Furthermore, there is no mention of grade C as this grade does not exist anymore. The resource is fully adaptable and I would expect any teacher that downloads a pre-prepared resource to adapt that resource for their own class (either up or down) depending on ability. We really appreciate constructive feedback and always reflect and act on reviews from teachers like yourself, as well as, in response to first hand teaching and observation of the lessons. Occasional typos are, I am afraid, inevitable when developing a course which contains over a GB of resources.
