These multimedia teachers’ resource packs from the Energy and Environment Institute at the University of Hull help you introduce the Bioeconomy into your curriculum. They contain lesson plans, worksheets, animation links, written case studies with online resource links, ‘how to’ films and download links for powerpoint presentations as well as careers resources for older students.
Created as part of the THYME Project, researchers from the Energy and Environment Institute worked with school teachers and community organisations to develop activities and lesson plans around Bioeconomy themes and concepts. These link to teaching about sustainability and the transition from fossil fuels to renewable resources as part of a zero-carbon future. The activities are designed to be embedded into the curriculum while providing opportunities for outdoor learning.
There are two packs aimed at KS3 level and two further packs with differentiated content for KS4. The lesson plans and activities are designed to be dropped straight into teaching but they may also be adapted to suit the needs of individual schools, with some of the outdoor learning activities particularly suited to after-school and community groups.
More information about the project and a full list of available resources may be found at:

Thank you to our panel of teachers and members of ERVAS and the Leconfield Army Base community group who helped to develop these resources. Thank you particularly to staff and students at Withernsea High School who appear in the film introducing the resources and the cover image.
