This Flamin’ Hot Movie Guide | Worksheet | Questions (PG13 - 2023) challenges students to analyze the Richard Montañez story. Explore the many obstacles he encounters and how he overcomes them in order to succeed. Think like a director and discuss how Richard’s imaginative montages affect the viewer. Identify the character traits that make Richard a Montañez and compare them to character traits that are valued today among students’ peers. Discuss any discrepancies and explore why they exist. Identify lessons that students can learn from Richard’s story and how they can be applied in life.

This resource consists of 10 high-level, short answer and essay questions that will do more than just ask your students to regurgitate information.

  **CCSS Note: I’ve taken the liberty of aligning certain reading standards with the act of consuming content via the movie instead. Although students are not reading they are asked to perform the same cognitive functions on the content that they consumed from the movie.

**Distance Learning Tips:

• Distribute the Google Slides version to each student
• Use the screen sharing tool on your group call software to play the movie
• Pause the movie at each question to give students time to write/discuss
