Y7-Y9 exploring and comparing self-interest and equality by comparing Capitalism and Socialism. You need skittle sweets and lots of envelopes to give students their annual pay.

On the Capitalism activity, make sure some students don’t get an envelope to represent unemployment. Discuss the benefits system within this economic structure. Get a variety of jobs so that you can demonstrate the gulf in salaries.

On the Socialism activity, make sure everyone has a pay packet but that everyone gets the same amount and then discuss the good and bad aspects of each model.
