Changes in education during the past few years have felt like white-water rafting!

However, the pandemic has heightened the need to better balance the intense focus on academic outcomes with Social and Emotional Learning (SEL). Especially after experiences during the Covid-19 crisis, the emerging generation wants to be better equipped with life skills.

Research shows that when high quality SEL is blended with traditional education, a raft of improvements take place that positively impact wellbeing, health and attainment levels.

Here we look at how fulfilling DfE Personal Development criteria (including expectations for SMSC, British Values, PSHE and RSHE provision) can help to enhance academic achievements and better prepare young citizens for taking their rightful places in the modern world.
