The importance of phonics and reading workshop

I have used this powerpoint for a parent workshop on the importance of Phonics and Reading.
It talks through the terminology used in phonics, summarises every phase, encourages parents to create sound buttons etc so it is very interactive and also explains how parents can support phonics, reading and writing at home. It also includes information on the Year 1 phonics screening and how they support at home. We have also sent the presentation home for parents to keep so they can refer back to the guidance when helping with phonics at home. This presentation has had excellent feedback and has also been used by the local authority. This can also be used as staff training to help other members of staff (such as NQT’s and new members of staff)who are not phonics trained understand the terminology and importance of it.
