The Iron Woman - read and respond comprehension booklet

This resource is a reading comprehension booklet that uses the text The Iron Woman as a text to answer higher level questions focused on comprehension, language choice and vocabulary. The booklet is aimed at UKS2 and is based on the well researched and highly effective recommendations in Doug Lemov’s Reading Reconsidered approach.

The booklet covers all chapters in the book and each unit is designed to be led through whole class work which leads onto paired and individual work. The class reads the chapter together (ideally after reading the whole book as a class for pleasure) and then the teacher guides the children through the questions, using discussion to edit and improve their answers.
