This is a fully differentiated lesson looking at the poem, The Man He Killed by Thomas Hardy. The lesson has been designed to help learners gain a good understanding of the language, structure and form of the poem as well as the contextual factors that affect our interpretation of the text.

The lesson has many opportunities for AFL and class discussion as well as a comparison to the poem, A Poison Tree by William Blake (see bundle for a full lesson on Blake’s work) and how to structure a comparison.

All of my lessons have been tried and tested with my own groups and can be taught both online and face-to-face. If you liked this lesson, then please check out my shop for more lessons and resources which are updated each week.
