An investigative lesson on the murder of Emmett Till and how his death inspired others in the Civil Rights movement. There is a source activity for students to work out what happened in 1955. The slides then go through the murder and aftermath, including the trial and public reaction. The lesson ends on how Till’s death inspired Rosa Parks. There is the option to get students to write a newspaper article surrounding Till. Lesson plan included. My students have always enjoyed this lesson!
