These are fun wordsearch activities designed to fit alongside the Year 1 phonics curriculum for children aged five to six in England.

This set contains a wordsearch for each set of long vowel phonemes, plus an overview puzzle. Each wordsearch has a solution key. The puzzles cover the main spelling patterns for the long vowel phonemes:

ay, ai and a-e
ea and ee
igh, -y and i-e
oa, ow and o-e
oo, u-e and ew
plus an overview puzzle

To support readability for this age group, most words in the puzzle can be read from left to right or from top to bottom. Great for teaching sessions, games and activities.

The puzzles are in Word so that they can also be used on-screen (children can highlight the words) and the solution keys are in PDF.
