Here is a topic topic plan with a range of ideas which can be used with KS2. This has been tried and tested as one of the most successful topics I've taught in year 5/6!
Included are the following original model texts written by myself which can be used for the Talk for Writing process or however you choose featuring the requirements of the new expected and greater depth standard:
- a suspense story set in London during a bombing
-a first person evacuee diary
- a newspaper report on the blitz
- a newspaper on the declaration of war
- a boxed up plan so the children can plan their own report of a raid
plus some table signs linked to WWII
