Year 8 SOW on Devising. This Scheme of work involves the planning side of devising and the structured steps students need to take in order to create a strong performance.

Lesson 1- Introduction to Devising

• Looks at different stimuli
• Pick a stimulus and come up with an idea around it

Lesson 2- Planning the Beginning

• Looks at different types of openings to a performance
• space for planning

Lesson 3- Planning the Middle

• Looking at different middle scenes in films and play
• Rising Action explained
• Space for planning

Lesson 4- Planning the End

• Looks at different kinds of endings, Like plot twists, cliff hangers and successful endings.
• Falling Action Explained
• Space for planning

Lesson 5- Adding the techniques

• Adding in Freeze Frames and Thought Tracking to add texture.
• Success criteria
• Peer Assessment and sentence starters

Lesson 6- Adding extras

• Looking at adding the 5 performance skills in order to build character
