I like resources which are visual and can be used on different levels. I've been teaching for a long time and relish the challenge of helping others learn.

Learning template for proposed remote learning. Format is simple and requires minimum adaptation by teacher. Have included introduction slides by way of explanation. Only good for internet connected places.

A selection of things that students should read before they’re 18 years old. They can of course, read them afterwards as well. Plenty to argue about wherever teachers gather together. Contains brief comments on each novel/poem/short story.

Students organise and date various things along a river of time in the classroom. You could bring in quite a lot of the objects yourself or simply print the pictures. For each object there is an info slide which reveals the date at the end. Date cards are also ready for you on the last slide. This will be the best lesson you teach in a long while.

ARE YOU A CITIZEN ?

Some essential knowledge for young people that might help them become good citizens. The bare bones of a wider lesson are here for any add-ons and tweaks. This is UK centric but can obviously be adapted to suit…

MISTAKE OF THE DAY

31 slides, each with a real life mistake for your students to correct while you relax at the start of the lesson. Alternatively, why not use them in the middle or at the end of your lesson ? Correct answers are NOT included since if you do not know the answer, it’s probably not best to show them to students.

I AM A ROCK......metaphors and songs.

For Year 7s to 9s, but possibly for lower levels up the school. Students discuss meaning of metaphors and then listen to song by simon and Garfunkel, filling in blanks. Then they write an analysis of the song, using prompts.

This is for KS 3 and aims to answer the question: What makes a good story teller ? Students can use their phones in a practical way to create atmosphere.
