Feedback on this please :) Students decide on a real life dilemma between a woman and her husband. Lots of scope for drama and enough for two lesson. Read the second to last slide first ! Based on actual case in America. All ready to deliver and argue.

Lower ability, uses images to elicit response. Choose to ask students WHICH image they would choose from the poem. Lesson involves students selecting positive and negative element from the river's experience. Introduces the idea of personification...h/w to produce a similar poem of your own (can be powerpoint with images)

I wrote this myself after spending lunch time duty watching crowds of students enjoying fights. Grim though it was, the poem asks a few questions. Students can then write their own version of a poem/story connected with bullying/fighting/crowd behaviour. Link with the brilliant film on youtube - Pictures now added !

Visual adaptation of this famous problem with solution included and print out (be careful to cut off the solution) for those who need it. Great fun and scope for adaptation to a myriad of situations, e.g lockers, classrooms etc. Feedback please :)

Lesson for year 7s to encourage their enjoyment of poetry. You will need a post-it for each student. They distinguish between prose and poetry, identify key features and write their own version of WCW's brilliant poem. Display post-its around the class.
