Close reading: Analyzing unfamiliar text
This unit is designed to help students tackle a range of different text types. Students need to identify language features, analyse the effect of them and explain why the language features were used by the author.
This workbook begins by asking students to define and give examples of common language features. They then have to find these examples in a range of text types, while also explaining the effect of the techniques.
Reading Strategies bookmarks
These bookmarks are designed to aid reciprocal reading groups. Each bookmark is intended as a prompt, to help remind the students what each role in the group should be doing. These can be also given out prior to reading so students know which role they are fulfilling.
'V for Vendetta' film technique analysis workbook
These resources can be either used as an introduction to film techniques, or as part of a ‘V for Vendetta’ unit. It is a workbook based around analyzing the film techniques used in one scene of ‘V for Vendetta’.
