These are 3 different activities I created to get my A-level students to speak about stereotypes in the Hispanic world. Activity 1 consists of 12 cards (you need to cut them out yourself) with a different Spanish stereotype each. Students will take one each at a time, having to explain the stereotype in more detail if they have heard from it before, and then say whether they agree with it or not, and why. Activity 2 consists of a PDF document that looks like a comic, created with countryballs (to make it more fun and attractive). It includes more stereotypes of different Spanish-speaking countries. Each slide is created to trigger a discussion regarding the preconceptions of each country mentioned. Activity 3 is a powerpoint presentation with a very wide range of different South American stereotypes, raised by North American people. Each slide displays a different stereotype, for students to look at and discuss in pairs.

You will find materials to teach the months, numbers up to 31 and a sub-unit I’ve created to teach the alphabet. A 54-slide ppt which covers the relevant language to teach Module 2.1 Que te gusta hacer? from the Viva 1 textbook. Ppt contains plenty of vocabulary to give opinions and talk about free time activities in their infinitive forms at length. It also includes a wide range of adjectives to describe these activities and frequency, always going beyond what the textbook offers. It does not get into verb conjugations at this stage, however it does highlight the 3 different types of infinitives to slowly raise awareness for the next sub-topic. 2 different vocab tests also included. A resource created for pupils taking the Edexcel Spanish IGCSE 9-1 exam to train their grammar skills so that they can tackle the 10-point question with confidence and success. This bundle was specifically created for a very able, top set - good news is that it’s easily adaptable and so you can tweak it to your own pupils’ needs. The ppt includes 8 grammar questions (including a range of tenses such as present continous, imperfect tense, present subjunctive) and a cheat sheet for each of them to give pupils the chance to get extra support to look should they need it. Topics are: Los viajes escolares Los planes de futuro Las normas del instituto Mi infancia y adolescencia La vida en un pais hispanohablante El medio ambiente El trabajo voluntario La tecnologia I personally have done these questions with my year 11s before the final mocks and towards the end of the year, before they go on study leave.

A ppt which covers the relevant language to teach Module 4.3 ¿Como te preparas? from the Viva 2 textbook. You will find plenty of reflexive verbs for students to be able to talk at length about how they get ready in general. A number of activities are provided to work on the conjugation of reflexive verbs in the present tense in depth, so that they can include other people. A straightforward ppt which covers the relevant language to teach Module 3.3 Que hay en tu insti? from the Viva 1 textbook. Ppt introduces school facilities and recaps basic adjectives to describe these. There are a number of activities included to practise the 4 skills. At the end of the ppt you will find a vocab test and a couple of starter activities on the topic. Check out the bottom notes on each slide - you will often find instructions to tasks.

A 60-slide ppt which covers the relevant language to teach Module 2.2 Cantas karaoke? from the Viva 1 textbook. Ppt contains plenty of vocabulary to give opinions and talk about free time activities in the present tense at length. It introduces the present tense of -ar verbs and frequency expressions to take their language up a notch. It includes tasks to practise all skills plus small vocab and grammar tests. This is a continuation / build up from Module 2.1, which you will also find on my shop. Check out the bottom notes on each slide - you will find instructions to tasks, and lots of links to kahoots and youtube links for your students to enjoy.

Viva 3 - Modules 1-4 retrieval practice starters for exam revision These are good to do as starters before a module exam is going to take place, or as revision before end of year exams. PPT contains 4 slides, 1 for module 1 - somos asi; 1 for module 2 - oriéntate; 1 version of module 3 - en forma; and 1 version of module 4 - reciclamos. Please note unit 4.3 is the only unit from module 4 I based this on, as we don’t teach anything else from that module, so if you want to add content from other units, you’ll need to edit the activity. All the other slides include items from each sub-unit within the module, ensuring everything is revisited. Each slide contains 12 questions ranging from very easy - easy - challenging - difficult for students to translate into either language, or come up with a short explanation / phrase. The harder the question, the more points they can take if they get it right. The idea is for them to do it at the back of their book / on a MWB. Answers appear on click. Allow at least 15 minutes of the lesson for it to be done properly.

As the preterite tense was introduced a module ago, I created a range of mainly listening comprehension activities following Gianfranco Conti’s communicative approach. This lesson is thus very teacher-led at the start, engaging students in a different range of activities which go at a fast and dynamic pace.
