A one hour to 90 minute lesson all about life for men and women in Britain during WWI. It covers Kitchener’s recruitment campaign, women in new job roles, conscription, conscientious objectors and much more. This has been created for the OCR GCSE History A - War and Society and covers the theme ‘Impact of War on People’ and the ‘Beginnings of Total War’. However, it is editable and could be tweaked for any exam board covering the same theme. The lesson is complete with a differentiated PowerPoint and worksheets, clip links, starters, plenary, exam practice question, source analysis tasks, peer assessment and LOs to three levels throughout. Leadership of Churchill lesson - A detailed and well-differentiated, editable history lesson all about how Churchill was far more than a one-dimensional character who lead the allies to victory. This lesson allows students to investigate to what extent Churchill was a ‘hero’ or a ‘villain’ by evaluating his policies, successes and failures. This lesson investigates the strengths and weaknesses of Churchill as a politician and was created for Year 9 but could be used for other years as it’s all editable - it’s full of exam-style GCSE practice questions. 7 HOUR UNIT - a detailed, challenging and editable unit, best suited to upper KS3 (due to the nature of the subject). The unit starts with an introduction to why genocide was such a significant and horrendous hallmark of the 20th century, before focusing on 4 genocides in particular, then an additional lesson on the Stolen Generations (not a genocide, but a mass replacement of indigenous peoples, and something many students are unaware happened).
