Simon Armitage poem The Manhunt is a fantastic piece for KS3 students because of its use of language, structure and form and how the speaker conveys their feelings on war and the effects of conflict on relationships, long after the fighting has finished. This lesson helps students to analyse language techniques, structure and more, as well as exploring war and its effects on people. A very useful lesson for both KS3 and KS4 students preparing for unseen poetry exams.

Travel Writing vocabulary - in creative writing vocabulary can be quite tricky, but this lesson supports students in improving their use of vocabulary when creating specific genre narrative pieces. Students are provided with detailed lists of synonyms for adjectives, verbs and nouns, all with a Travel Writing focus.
