Fun KS2 number sense maths puzzles worksheets - these fun printable independent activities are great for revision, early finishers challenges, starter tasks, home work and home learning, especially in the first few weeks at the start of the year. This place value and rounding fun puzzles worksheets BUNDLE was originally designed for Year 4, 5 and 6 Maths / Numeracy. Includes numbers up to 5, 6 and 7 digits and rounding to the nearest 10, 100, 1000, whole number, 1 decimal place, two decimal places and nearest pound or dollar. Engaging alternative to standard worksheets; ideal for differentation. 13 puzzles, full answer keys, PDF format.
The place value puzzles are crossnumber puzzles:
2 for numbers up to ten thousands
2 for numbers up to hundred thousands
2 for numbers up to millions
Differentiation: For each of 5, 6 and 7-digit numbers the first puzzle is for practising reading the word version and writing the digit version in the grid, while the second, more challenging puzzle for each involves adding and subtracting from large numbers (increase by 1000, take away five hundred thousand etc)
Works in a similar way to a crossword puzzles but with numbers entered into the grid
The rounding puzzles are hidden word puzzles:
1 for rounding to the nearest ten
1 for rounding to the nearest hundred
1 for rounding to the nearest thousand
1 for rounding to the nearest whole number
1 for rounding to the nearest one decimal place
1 for rounding to the nearest two decimal places
1 for rounding money to the nearest pound (dollar version also included)
More about hidden word puzzles: Similar to codebreaker puzzles, with a maths-related word to be revealed after the rounding work. Each puzzle contains a grid. Within each box is a number to be rounded and a letter. Once students have rounded all the numbers, they cross out any boxes containing numbers that round to certain specified target numbers. Then they put together the letters from the remaining boxes to reveal a maths word. If the word is more simple, the letters are in random order for students to reassemble. If it is a trickier word (such as a famous mathematician), the letters are already placed in the correct order in the grid. There is a further challenge question / task at the bottom of the page linked to the hidden word.
For previews and more information, please see the 2 individual resource pages.
You can get these puzzles alongside my other Place Value activities and games (large differentiated sets of self-check Place Value trails for 5, 6 and 7-digit numbers and also decimals Place Value games) in this good value bundle: KS2 Place Value Activities Bundle
Number sense dice games for KS2 Year 3, 4, 5 and 6. These maths games for place value and rounding provide differentiation and challenge. This BUNDLE features games for 4, 5, 6 and 7 digit numbers (thousands, ten thousands, hundred thousands and millions) and 1, 2 and 3 decimal places (tenths, hundredths and thousandths), together with rounding to the nearest 10, 100, 1000, 10000, whole number, 1 decimal place, 2 decimal places and estimating the sum or difference by rounding to the nearest 10.
A fun, more challenging and strategic twist on an old idea, these 36 dice games will make students think carefully about where to place digits as they practise their place value and rounding skills. As students can choose to place digits they roll in any box on any row, they will develop interesting tactics and the uncertainty will be prolonged to the final moments!
Great for starters, early finishers, revision or as a fun homework task
Many levels of challenge - ideal for differentiation or for use across year groups
Use as printed worksheets or else laminate (or use in dry-wipe sleeves) and complete with whiteboard pens
Instead of playing in pairs, you might form small groups - pairs could play against pairs instead of one-versus-one and you might appoint a checker who can adjudicate (and then swap roles for the next game). Consider enlarging to A3 for larger groups.
If you don’t have a 0-9 dice:
Use 0-9 spinners (I have included black and white and colour templates for your convenience) if you wish to make some
Use digit cards (basic digit cards included in the file)
Use a pack of playing cards (use Aces as 1 and Jacks as 0, put aside the Kings and Queens; shuffle the pack and take one card in turn)
The place value games will also work with a 1-6 dice
Instructions are printed on the boards.
For more detailed information and clear previews, please see the 2 individual resource packs included in this bundle.

Fun, challenging and strategic, these 17 estimation and rounding games will make students think carefully about where to place digits in order to make each statement on the board correct. As children are allowed to place the digits they roll (or spin) in any row on their side of the board, they will begin to generate tactics and the uncertainty will be prolonged until the final moments! 23 pages, PDF format.
Great for starters, early finishers, revision or as a fun homework task

Includes games for 4, 5, 6 and 7 digit numbers (thousands, ten thousands, hundred thousands and millions) and 1, 2 and 3 decimal places (tenths, hundredths and thousandths). A fun, more challenging and strategic twist on an old idea, these 19 games will make students think carefully about where to place digits, practise their ordering skills, develop interesting tactics and prolong the uncertainty until the final moments. 24 pages, PDF format.
Great for starters, early finishers, revision or as a fun homework task
Many levels of challenge - ideal for differentiation or for use across year groups

Instead of playing in pairs, you might form small groups - pairs could play against pairs instead of one-versus-one and you might appoint a checker who can adjudicate (and then swap roles for the next game). Consider enlarging to A3 for larger groups.
There is a mixture of Make the Biggest Number, Make the Smallest Number and Greater or Less Than games
Every turn, players can place the digit they throw on any row or column, until there are no vacant boxes remaining, prolonging the uncertainty! Keeping an eye on each other’s numbers as they form, players will begin to spot new tactics; for instance they might notice that a 1 placed in a thousands place might not be so costly if there’s a 9 in the ten thousands place, depending on what their opponent is doing on their grid. They can also practise saying their completed numbers aloud at the end.
If you don’t have a 0-9 dice, the games still work with a 1-6 dice. Alternatively:
Use 0-9 spinners (I have included black and white and colour templates for your convenience) if you wish to make some

Ideal for main lesson tasks, sub lessons, starters, early finishers etc.
Please note that preparation is required for most games. This is mostly laminating (if you wish to use again) and some games require cutting (jigsaw puzzles, card games etc).
If you find yourself short of time and don’t mind skipping the laminating, there are plenty of games here which you can just print and use with no preparation.
Includes the following game types:
Four in a Row
Serpents et Echelles (Snakes and Ladders)
Other board games
Active card games
Bingo / Noughts and Crosses cards
Human bingo
Jigsaw Puzzles
‘I Have…Who Has?’ / Loop games
Happy Families
Counter Throw
Battleships-style grid games
Pairs
And more!
Many thanks for your interest in my resources.

Speaking activities for a beginners French Key Stage 2 or Key Stage 3 (KS2 / KS3) Greetings, Farewells and Introductions FSL unit (saying your name in French, saying your age, saying how you are, where you live, giving your nationality etc): A set of printable 24 role play / skits cards for Les Salutations et Je Me Presente or Introducing Myself. These resources will help you plan multiple lessons at Year 4, 5, 6 or 7 and equivalents. PDF format. Full instructions are included.
Children can pair up to translate the English into French. The English language sides are designed to be printed back-to-back with the appropriate translation for students to check. If preferred the translations could be printed as separate cards. I’ve included a vocabulary card, which can be provided for support where required.
This oral activity reinforces ways of saying ‘hello’ (Bonjour, Salut etc) and ‘goodbye’ (Au revoir etc) as well as asking and answering questions such as ‘Ca va?’ (How are you?), ‘Comment tu t’appelles?’ (What’s your name?), ‘Quel age as-tu?’ (How old are you?), ‘Ou habites-tu?’ (Where do you live?) and ‘Tu es de quelle nationalite?’ (What nationality are you?). It’s a good stepping stone to more independent role-playing activities.

If you are teaching Means of Transport in French, here are 7 fun FSL speaking and listening activities for a Les Moyens de Transport / Le Transport vocabulary unit, which reviews a core range of 18 vehicles (les véhicules) and other means of transport (‘transportation’ in US and some other countries), additional vocabulary and linked phrases. My French basics / beginners resources are designed for Year 4, 5, 6 and 7 (and equivalents in other countries) but might suit others, depending on experience. Please check the previews to assess if they will be suitable. Due to a small number of differences between US and UK, I have included versions for both in the Zip file (in PDF format). The van in the UK version is replaced with the very common pick-up truck in the US version and the word ‘lorry’ is replaced by ‘truck’.
Includes: plane, bicycle, boat, bus, car, campervan, by foot, helicopter, horseback, hot air balloon, lorry, motorbike, ship, submarine, taxi, tractor, train, van. Some additional transport types feature in two of the games.
SAVE by purchasing this as part of my French Transportation BUNDLE along with my French Transportation Worksheets and Puzzles packet and my French Transportation Presentation and Activities. (coming soon)
INCLUDED IN THIS 34-PAGE PDF:
Vocab Pages: A word mat of the core 18 words, a full vocabulary list and 2 pages of verb and phrases support. Eco-printing versions included. Use to help differentiate for students who require them.
Four in a Row: 3 different game boards (2 with the core words, 1 with an extended range). First to get four in a row - vertically, horizontally or diagonally - wins. Best if laminated.
Les Voyages: Students journey from their house to the beach by turning over the correct cards and saying the words in French.
Active Oral Card Game: Students move around the room asking each other “Quel est ton moyen de transport préféré?” and answering with the French phrase that matches the image on their card. First to find their match wins.
Translation Board Game with sentences for translation. Answer key included.
Serpents et Echelles: A snakes and ladders game for oral practice.
Counter Throw: Students throw a counter to land it on images that match the French words on their cards. The images in this game have been set at 50% transparency for more eco-printing.
Bingo: 16 cards for a game in pairs (teacher or child could read out French words) or use for Noughts and Crosses, with students taking it in turns to say aloud a word in French to match an image on their card.
Instructions / rules / teacher’s notes included

Plan your KS2 or KS3 Mon Ecole / Vocabulaire de l’école / Schools in French topic with this PowerPoint lesson presentation (also in PDF format). Full of activities, it starts with cultural information on school life in France, then introduces and consolidates vocabulary including people in school (teacher, head teacher, caretaker etc), places (classroom, library, sports pitch etc) and other aspects of school life, like homework, lesson, bell. Among the 70+ slides, there’s teaching about related sentences and grammar points, translation activities and interactive games, with an additional 40 slides, making over 110 in total, comprising a fun memory game. Enough for more than one lesson! There’s a set of printable flash cards too, with and without a background.
My French basics / beginners resources are designed for Year 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 (and equivalents in other countries) but might suit others, depending on experience. Please check the previews to assess suitability. In the Zip file, there is an interactive PowerPoint file, an additional PDF version of the presentation, and a PDF of flash cards.
