A focus sheet where students must research the context and listen to key musical elements in the piece of music. A glossary for each of the 9 Edexcel GCSE Music Set Works. Each glossary is split into musical elements e.g. rhythm, melody, texture etc.

Resources to support students with a film music composition taking minimum of 5 lessons (1x motif composition, 1x intro, 1x build up, 1x climax and 1x resolution). 3 different composition briefs are provided which are split into introduction, build-up, climax and resolution so students can ensure structure to their composition. There is also an introduction to motifs (garageband lesson 1) and how to develop their use. The planning sheet provides key musical devices which should be defined on the sheet (using the planning instructions powerpoint which has musical examples and audio embedded) and describes the choice students have for each section. Differentiation is clear on the powerpoint and differentiates by the use of composition device. This has been created for KS3 but could also support GCSE students beginning to compose film ideas. Resources to support the analysis of verse 1, 2 and guitar solo for Samba em Preludio. All music is on Sibalius 6 and worksheet have been created to break down the analysis. These are double sided A3 and also look to compare the similarities and differences between verse 1 and 2. Detailed annotations are on the powerpoints.

Differentiated film music motifs for the piano both 1 and 2 hands (with and without notes). Guitar tab also provided for some. Motifs are either in the horror, fantasy or romantic genre. There is also powerpoint slides which include instructions and push your thinking ideas. Sibelius files are also provided. Differentiated listening questions are also provided in the genres listed above. Analysis of some motifs is provided with musical language to stretch the most able.

A introductory unit with differentiated powerpoint and resources to support students in composing a pop song chorus or verse using music technology. This is a series of lessons (minimum 3 to complete effectively). Students are taken through a chord sequence, bass line, drum kit part and vocal melody all with differentiated tasks. There is also a composition guide with step by step instructions so students can complete the tasks at their own rate. A lot of push your thinking ideas are included which would allow students to achieve higher grades.

Star Wars Section A and B performance parts in multiple keys and Sibelius 5 document for easy arrangement changes. Differentiated resources allowing students to perform the sections, annotate the key features and identify the differences between these sections.

A resource which compares the set work of Bach to 2 other pieces in preparation for the essay question (question 9). The scores for the unfamiliar pieces are attached. The links to audio are on the pp along with ideas and plans for each of the 2 questions. This could take 2 lessons (along with writing the essays) or be the preparation for an assessment or homework. There is also a summary grid for the Bach as a revision tool with 2 boxes based on the context of Baroque and the Concerto Grosso. There is differentiated success criteria which shows students how to access higher bands.

Key stage 3 music steps which have been created using the new 1-9 scale. There are 4 strands: performing, composing, rehearsing and listening and appraising. There are student friendly steps as well as statements that can be used for reporting purposes. A3 sheets can also be used as a tracking tool by dating when each step has been achieved.

Revision bookmarks including key terms for different styles of music and elements of music. They are different level (A2 bookmarks include much more detailed and more complicated harmonic terms). They should be printed and cut up so students can have a paper clip pack each. They can then be referred to for listening questions and when completing essays.

A pack of 4 sheets which describe each section of the Eduqas GCSE Set Work Since You Been Gone. All features of the set works are included so students can annotate their scores. There is also a short test (with answers) to be completed after each sheet is completed so you can test their understanding. Each sheet has graded success criteria as well as extra tasks e.g. notating chord patterns to ensure students can apply their knowledge.

This is a set of 4 lessons to support the advance information for Eduqas Verse and chorus 2 for Africa by Toto. The series of lessons includes facts required for both sections as well as comparison and contrast to other sections in the piece. There is answers throughout as well as differentiation and colour coded facts depending on target grade.
