Can You Carry It?
How hard can it be to carry water? Children find out the facts and discuss images of different ways of carrying water before trying themselves. Through activities on the playground children experience that water is heavy and challenging to carry over distances.

Watch campaign films that educate people about the dirty water crisis in Africa. Children consider the hard-hitting facts learned and record how this makes them feel. Discuss what makes these films effective, in preparation for planning own films in the next session.

Look at case studies from different African countries and using the healthy box discuss what things are missing from the healthy box, which explains diffs between the UK & Africa. Children share their case studies and key points. A focus on children’s health.

Who Are The British People?
Discuss the diff peoples who came to Britain in the past and made it their home - Celts, Romans, Saxons, Vikings and Normans and how other peoples have continued to come since WW2. Start a class timeline and individual timelines using ICT about this.

Using an exciting presentation, children look at a variety of images from across Africa, the largest landmass on the planet. They begin a research project to find out more about a particular type of landscape, possibly linking this to their chosen country.

Junior Writing Leaflet

Field trip!
Organise a field trip in the school grounds, in the local environment or further afield. Children observe and/or collect minibeasts and record them and any evidence (including plants) to indicate why the habitat is suitable for those organisms.

Endangered orang-utans (1)
Using the internet and fact sheets children find out more about the Orang-utans and why they have become endangered. What is being done to protect them and their habitats? What else can be done?
