Developing Inference Skills A set of nine pictures with guided questions and example sentence openers. The pictures and questions support children to develop inference skills. Each slide on the PowerPoint includes a picture for children to look at and talk about followed by questions that appear one at a time for children to think about. Each question is followed by an example sentence opener to encourage children to answer in full sentences. My class have thoroughly enjoyed being reading detectives and through practise will now provide reasons and explanations for their answers. The PowerPoint can be used as a whole class activity or with small groups during guided reading sessions. Aimed at Early Years and Year 1 children although could also be used to support Year 2 children. Visualisation Activity Sheets A set of 25 Visualisation Activity Sheets. These activity sheets are designed to encourage children to read or listen to sentences and then to visualise what the sentences are trying to convey. The activity sheets encourage children to look or listen for and respond to clues within the text. Visualisation is an important skill for children to develop and will support them in their future reading especially as they move on to longer texts with less pictures. This set of Visualisation Activity Sheets starts with five simple visualisation activities for example I am thinking of a black cat, children then need to visualise and draw a black cat. The activities then move on to visualising where, who and when. The last five activity sheets then require the children to visualise why something is happening. The Visualisation Activity Sheets can be used during guided reading sessions and the children really enjoy creating their own pictures. The sheets also open up opportunities for discussion. These activity sheets are aimed at Early Years and Key Stage 1 children.

2D Shapes Activity A fun Maths activity to introduce children to 2D shapes. The activity includes interactive activities for the children to join in with. The activity shows different 2D shapes and describes their properties. Children then have to guess the 2D shape that is being described or the 2D shape that is being slowly revealed. Children then have to explain why a shape eg a circle is not a triangle, this encourages children to use the vocabulary to describe 2D shapes and demonstrates their understanding of 2D shapes. There is also a shape spotting activity using pictures and an odd one out activity again encouraging children to describe and talk about the 2D shapes. My class have enjoyed using this PowerPoint to learn about 2D shapes and it encourages lots of talk about 2D shapes. The activities in this set include drawing 2D shapes, recognising 2D shapes, finding the odd shape out, shape spotting and comparing 2D shapes. The cards can be used to encourage children to discuss 2D shapes using shape related language. These cards can be laminated for repeated use during Maths lessons or could be printed on a smaller scale and stuck in Maths books for children to complete. I have also laminated these 2D shapes activity cards to be completed during Early Work Activities or independent activities so as to reinforce learning about 2D shapes. These activity cards are aimed at Early Years and Year 1 children.

A set of 30 English Worksheets covering different areas of the Year 1 English curriculum. These worksheets are suitable for practising and revising the different areas of the curriculum. The worksheets cover – capital letters lower case letters alphabet work adjectives punctuation common exception words sentence writing rhyming words conjunctions compound words plurals adding un adding -er, -est, -ing and -ed. The sheets include useful hints and explanations to support the children in completing the sheets. The English worksheets would be suitable for a home learning activity and require no additional teaching resources. They could also be used in Year 2 to practise the English skills that children learnt in Year 1 or throughout Year 1 to practise skills. For the imagination activity, children look at the picture and answer questions involving their imagination. This gives the children the opportunity to explain their thinking.
